Um café com Satoshi
“Um Café com Satoshi” presents reflections on the economics, technology, and culture behind Bitcoin, exploring unconventional aspects of this invention that redefined money. Published by Paradigma, the book brings together texts by Felipe Sant Ana, originally published between 2018 and 2023, examining Bitcoin’s many dimensions and its impact. More than a technical analysis, it also revisits the enigmatic figure of Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin’s creator, whose identity remains a mystery.
Designed as a collector’s edition, the book’s visual identity seeks to reflect the world of cryptography and engage with its community of enthusiasts. Inspired by binary language and the concept of blockchain, the graphic design embraces generative techniques as its main visual approach. At the same time, it deliberately avoids the cold, overly technical aesthetic often associated with this subject.
Programmatically generated graphic interferences overlay titles and subtitles, evoking cryptographic structures. A modular typeface was designed specifically for chapter openings, using the same rectangular elements that also shape the book’s infographics.
The physical edition features a dust jacket created through the recoding of an image into typographic modules. The image was recolored and divided into 50 distinct fragments, each applied to one of the 50 unique physical copies, making every edition one of a kind.
