Escola + Natureza

Escola + Natureza is an initiative by Instituto Alana, a Brazilian organization that transforms urgency and optimism into actions to defend and promote children's rights. The movement aims to adapt school spaces to new climate realities and reconnect children with the natural world. Through research, networking, and practical projects, E+N promotes the desire for greener schools throughout the country, addressing climate and social challenges through pillars such as school curriculum, infrastructure, and relationship with the city.

At its core, this movement strengthens children's bond with the natural environment and transforms school spaces, making them more adapted to the climate crisis. With initiatives such as naturalizing school yards, researching access to green spaces in Brazilian schools, and promoting nature-based education, the project offers inspiration, information, and tools to transform schools and ensure daily access to nature for all children and adolescents.

Starting from the idea that "we only care for what we love", this visual identity builds communication that inspires change and connects new generations to nature. Developed to engage adults without losing its childlike essence, the visual expression has genuinely Brazilian roots, with a diverse library of illustrations featuring native species that reinforce the feeling of belonging and connection to local biomes.

Flexible and modular in design, this visual system features elements that can be rearranged to symbolize growth and transformation. Applications expand through full-screen photographs, geometric masks, and illustrations that also function as text frames. The custom typeface, developed by Familiar Faces — who also designed the logo — reinforces the brand’s distinctive character and contributes to the system’s overall consistency. A nature-inspired color palette highlights green tones that support the message “connecting generations to green.” In motion, the system comes alive and brings nature closer in an accessible and engaging way. The symbol captures the essence of the project: a child in mid-leap holding a flower, and becoming one with it.
